BATTLE IN BILOXI UNDERCARD PACKED WITH PROSPECTS

New York, NY - (9/2/2011) As if the main event, featuring former WBC Welterweight Champion, Andre Berto looking to regain a piece of the welterweight crown when he challenges current IBF Champion, Jan Zaveck, at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, wasn't intriguing enough for the fans in Mississippi, DiBella Entertainment (DBE) has put together an undercard loaded with undefeated prospects and future stars.  In addition to undefeated 2008 U.S. Olympian, Gary Russell Jr. (17-0, 10KO's), who will see action in the live televised co-feature against Mexico's hard-hitting, Leonilo Miranda (32-3, 30KO's),  fighting in separate bouts on the un-televised portion of the card will be DBE prospects Thomas Oosthuizen (15-0-1, 11KO's), Luis Del Valle (13-0, 10KO's), and Ivan Redkach (7-0, 6KO's).  Also scheduled on the card is DBE's IBF #2 rated welterweight contender, Randall Bailey, as he takes on Yoryi Estrella in a 10-round welterweight match-up.  Bailey is the mandatory challenger to the winner of Zaveck-Berto.  All the participants for tomorrow night's show will weigh-in today at 3PM in the Azalea Ballroom in the Beau Rivage

For Oosthuizen, who will be defending his IBO Super Middleweight belt, it will be his first fight under the DBE banner and first outside of his native South Africa.  Oosthuizen is scheduled to take on fellow DBE fighter Aaron Pryor Jr. (16-3, 11KO's) in a 12-round super middleweight showdown.  President of DiBella Entertainment, Lou DiBella, is very high on the rangy 6'4" southpaw prospect and knows that an impressive performance against Pryor, who is coming off the biggest win of his career, a decision victory over three-time world title challenger Librado Andrade, will throw him into the mix with the rest of the top super middleweights in the world.

Fresh off his impressive and dominate decision win over Dat Nguyen in June, Puerto Rican native, Luis "Orlandito" Del Valle, will take on Florida's Anthony Napunyi (14-10, 7KO's).  The bout is scheduled for eight rounds with a 124lb. weight limit.  After spending much of his career fighting at featherweight and above, the 24-year-old Del Valle, who is ranked in the top 10 in the WBA featherweight rankings, plans to move down to the junior featherweight division (122lbs) and immediately start making some noise, beginning with the bout against Napunyi on Saturday night.

Ivan Redkach, who originally hails from the Ukraine but now lives and fights out of Los Angeles, California, is scheduled to meet North Carolina's Vernon Alston (4-1, 4KO's) in a six-round lightweight match-up.  Redkach made his DBE debut in June, scoring a sixth-round TKO over Alberto Amaro on the undercard of Carl Froch's super middleweight title defense against Glen Johnson at the Boardwalk Hall in Altantic City, NJ.

Opening up the card is SES Boxing's undefeated Sergio Vartanov (9-0, 6KO's) as he takes on North Carolina's Gerald Jordan (7-5-1, 5KO's) in a six-round welterweight match-up.

Battle in Biloxi: Berto vs. Zaveck is presented by DiBella Entertainment in association with SES Boxing and sponsored by AZAD watches, The Underground Clown, and HBO PPV: Mayweather vs. Ortiz. The show will be aired live on HBO's Boxing After Dark®, beginning at 10:30 PM ET/PT.

Doughlin set to return; Arreola, veteran Ahunanya on card.

Paul Williams is returning to the ring since his last bout in Atlantic City - a stunning KO loss to the hands of the (then) middleweight champ Sergio Martinez.  His opponent  is stepping up after winning all his 15 bouts, 10 by knockout.

Chris Arreola continues his heavyweight journey as a new man - a more compact 234 lbs, and he says he trains the same but has adjusted his diet to certain foods and no midnight snacks.

Number 2 world ranked super-bantamweight Akifumi Shiboda is coming in from Tokyo, Japan to tackle the American market, and a worthwhile opponent in undefeated Californian Rico Ramos, who is fighting in Atlantic City for the second time.

As for the main event, this is by no means an easy one for Williams, who is coming of a KO at the hands of Sergio Martinez. The opponent,  Erislandy Lara, is an unbeaten fighter who has met opponents with winning records throughout his brief career. His top performance was January 2010 when he stopped the durable Grady Brewer.  This might be a surprise, especially if Williams comes out flat - Lara is that good. He has battled top guys and has always come out on top.

Heavyweight Arreola fights the muscular veteran Friday Ahunanya, a crowd pleasing fighter whose best days included stints on ESPN Friday Nights fights almost a decade ago. His last big victory came in 2007 against then undefeated Shane Cameron

DOUGHLIN SET TO RETURN

2008 National Golden Gloves titlist and highly touted junior middleweight Denis “Da Mommas Boy” Douglin makes his return to the ring this Saturday evening at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ when he battles grizzled Philadelphian Phillip McCants.

With a 9-2-1 professional ledger and three wins by knockout, McCants is yet another fighter from the City of Brotherly Love that is tougher than nails. The 30 year old veteran has never been stopped and is known for having solid skills. In his most recent bout, McCants bested 12-2 Kaseem Wilson.

Douglin, 12-1 (8 KO’s), is fighting for the first time since a stunning defeat to Doel Carrasquillo, and recognizes that he can’t take anything for granted. Refreshed, retooled and 100% focused on boxing, the Morganville, N.J. based Brooklynite is excited to silence his critics with a strong showing.

“I feel great,” said Douglin. “I don’t care who I’m fighting. I just want to go out and show people that my last fight was a fluke, and that it won’t happen again.”

Undefeated Super Bantamweight Jorge Diaz Takes on Teon Kennedy with New Trainer

New Brunswick, NJ (January 24, 2010) - Fast-rising super bantamweight Jorge Diaz (15-0, 9 KO) looks to make the jump from prospect to contender on March 26 when he faces Philadelphia's Teon Kennedy at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ for Kennedy's USBA super bantamweight title.

Diaz, 23, of New Brunswick, NJ is coming off a thrilling victory over former world title challenger Emmanuel Lucero on October 30 in one of the year's best clashes. The 24-year-old Kennedy (16-0, 7 KO) is coming off a 10th round stoppage of Alex Becerra in September and is known as "The Technician" for his boxing ability.

"It's a great opportunity for me to let everyone know what I'm about," said Diaz. "It's gonna be a good fight and I'm gonna win. I'm just really excited to drop bombs. I want to add some excitement to this sport."

The Kennedy fight will be Diaz's first fight back with his one-time amateur coach Joe Grier, who assisted in his corner when Diaz fought in the Northeast Regionals several years back. Grier, who trained Yuri Foreman to the world junior middleweight championship in 2009, is a staple of New Jersey boxing.

"We've been training since early December and everything's going great so far," said Diaz. "I like everything that he's taught me so far. I'm excited to show the world what I can do."

Diaz-Kennedy will be a supporting bout to the featherweight championship unification between Yuriorkis Gamboa and Jorge Solis, which will be televised by HBO.
