At the Renzo Gracie Acadamy..., Renzo Gracie, when Renzo was helping Geoge St Pierre [GSP} prepare for his win over BJ Penn. Since these photos,...
Renzo has been both coach and fighter for the IFL [International Fight Legue]. Renzo most recently defeated former UFC Champ and current IFL coach
with a spectacular 1st round win by guillotine choke over Pat Millitech.

AND.....GSP recently defeated UFC phenom Matt Hughes for the 170lb UFC Championonship. Next up for George st Pierre....defends his newly won UFC Welterweight
title Dec 30' 06 against Matt serra, mma veteran and recent winner of UFC's "Ultimate Fighter" tv series,
Next up for Renzo Gracie is an IFL Superfight against former UFC champ Carlos Newton, Dec 29'06. Should be a great fight.

The Gracies are certainly on a roll with Daniel Gracie defeating big Wes Sims by rear naked choke at the IFL earlier in the year and most recently Daniel Gracie defeating MMA veteran Ron Waterman at BODOG, in his first mma fight.

EDDIE ALVAREZ

“This is going to be a great fight. Style-wise, I look at Ebanez and he reminds me of me. With two fighters who like to come forward and give their all, the fans are in for a treat.

“I expect – and want – him to bring out the very best in me so I can show the world what Eddie Alvarez is really all about. Fighting in my backyard and on SHOWTIME is a great opportunity.

“I’ve been around long enough to know how to handle any pre-fight jitters, but I am truly excited for this one. Fighting an aggressive southpaw is perfect. This is an exceptional main event.’’

ROSS EBANEZ

“I’ve prepared myself to hear a lot of boos when I come into the cage and get introduced, but, hopefully, I can silence them and eventually have them on my side and rooting for me at the finish. But Eddie is a good, solid, aggressive fighter who deserves the attention he is getting.

“For me, career-wise, this is quite an accomplishment. To fight a guy like Eddie, in his backyard, in the main event on SHOWTIME, is extremely exciting and satisfying.

“This is a tremendous fight for the fans. I’m ready to go, and I know he feels the same way. I have fought all kinds, though, so I doubt he is going to present me with any situations that I have never seen before. I am very confident.’’

PAUL “SEMTEX’’ DALEY

“The fans know me in Europe, but not so much here, so I am thrilled to be fighting again in the United States. The exposure all of us get from fighting on SHOWTIME is invaluable.

“Morgan has fought a lot of tough opponents, but he hasn’t had many tough fights. That’s what is going to happen again. I am going to outclass him and do what I do best: knock him out and put on a great show for the fans. Morgan is going to feel like he got ran over by a truck.

“I really want to thank EliteXC and SHOWTIME for putting me on this card.’’

SAMMY “THE SQUEEZE’’ MORGAN

“Some people may think Daley is something special, but I don’t. I’m going to knock him out and send him home to England to his ‘mummy’ so they can have their tea and crumpets together.

“I really am confident that I am not only going to win this fight, but that I am going to win convincingly and shock a whole lot of people along the way.

“I fear nothing. I’ve been hit in the face and taken to the ground before. If he thinks this is going to be an easy fight, he is in for a major surprise. I am not a joke, or someone who can be taken lightly. This is the fight that is going to get me right to where I need to be in this division.’’

BOBBY MCMASTER

“It took me a few weeks to put that last fight behind me, but I have. Still, it’s hard to believe it ended the way it did. But that’s what happens when you get overanxious.

“I am fighting a real tough guy with a lot of talent and experience. I have a lot of respect for Bao. But I do not worry about what any of my opponents can do. They have to worry about me.

Fighting on SHOWTIME is like making it to the major leagues. You can’t cut corners at this level. This is going to be a great fight. But I am going to do my thing and win it.’’

BAO QUACH

“I really don’t like to talk a lot but I am very excited about this opportunity I am getting. I have trained very hard and am in really good condition. This is a good opponent. He can wrestle and ground and pound. But so can I.

“In some ways, I think we are alike. But I feel very strong and confident and I am ready for a war. I always expect a tough fight. This could be the fight of the night.’’

JULIE KEDZIE

“After my fight with Gina (Carano), she became a superstar and I am very happy for her and I appreciate her giving me the chance to fight her. But even though I got my butt whipped, I didn’t feel like I lost. I came away from that fight feeling good about myself and my ability to compete.

“Because of that fight, I got recruited to fight for Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts in Albuquerque, and it has been a blessing. I haven’t lost since and I feel like I have improved my skills in all areas. I am happier than ever. I am busting my butt in the gym, but it is paying off.

“I am looking forward to fighting Tonya. She is tough as nails. But this is my chance to show I can fight an opponent with a different style. It’s an honor for me to fight again for EliteXC on SHOWTIME.’’

TONYA EVINGER

“I fought like crap against Gina. About halfway through, I just went stupid. I think I got distracted by her (good looks).

“I am ready for a rematch right now, but I have to win this fight first. Then, maybe I can fight Gina again and beat her and get my career back on top.

“Julie is a good fighter, but this fight, like all my fights, is about me, and me sticking to my game plan. If I can do that, I’m confident I will win.’’

KALA KOLOHE HOSE

“Every fight is important to me and you can’t beat the exposure you get when you fight on SHOWTIME, so I am ready. My opponent is a really tall fighter with a lot of good experience, but I have fought experienced, tall guys before.

“All people want to talk about is me fighting Robbie Lawler and all the postponements. But I am not even thinking about Lawler now.

“My only focus is on winning Friday. To underestimate or look past anybody would be a big mistake for any fighter.’’

FRED BELLETON

“This is a great opportunity for me to make a good name for myself against a quality opponent. I am more excited than nervous. It is quite an achievement for me to make it all the way to a SHOWTIME card, but the next step is for me to win the fight.’’

“I have worked very hard and I still have a lot to prove. But this is my golden chance to break through. I am treating this like the biggest fight of my career.’’

BEY

INTERNATIONAL FIGHT LEAGUE 2007 Grand Prix ROCKS THE HOUSE!

 At Mohegan Sun Arena
December 29' 07 Uncasville, Connecticut..

Five IFL Fighters Claim Titles.

It was the IFL's first ever World Grand Prix. The corners were almost as exciting as the fights. Considered by some to be the biggest fight of the night was Ryan Schults vs Chris Horodecki. Cornering Ryan of The Wolfpack was Matt "The Law" Lindland and in Horodecki's corner was none other than "Captain America" Randy Couture, Sean Thompkins and Mike "Quicksand" Pile. Ryan Schultz KO'd the previously undefeated  Polish Hammer, Chris Horodecki to win the Lightweight Championship. Ryan took control of the fight early on and not only had Horodecki on his back, but had The Polish Hammer's left arm pinned behind his own back while landing strikes. In the first championship bout was Roy 'Big Country" Nelson of Ken Shamrock's lions against Antoinne Jaoude of the Condors.

Roy TKO'D Antoinne in the early part of R2 to take the IFL Heavyweight Championship. Ken Shamrock looking in great fighting shape himself was in great spirits with Nelson's win. Next was the Lightweight Championship bout...Wagney Fabiano [Pitbulls] vs LC Davis.
In Fabianos corner were Renzo Gracie and Carlos Newton. Fabiano kept his unbeaten record and won by armbar late in R1.Next up was The welterweight Championship bout pitting Jay Hieron finishing Delson Heleno [Renzo's Pitbulls]  with strikes and winning the championship. It looked like Heleno may have twisted his hip after falling to the ground from the awesome striker Hieron. Jay showed concern for his defeated opponent as did the fans. Word from Renzo Gracie Blackbelt, Magno is that Delson is doing fine.Next up was Matt "Suave" Horwich [Matt Lindland's Wolfpack] taking on undefeated Benji Radach. Horwich showed amazing heart and determination,
coming back after losing R1 and KOing Benji in R2. You had to be there. Congrats to The IFL Champs. Two of the non-title fights were right up there. Newcomer Brett Cooper scored a TKO in R2 over top rated Rory Markham. Cooper, a 20 yr old BJJ Bluebelt was losing R1 and almost got submitted by triangle choke. Guess Cooper's motto is almost don't count. Also a very exciting fight on this IFL card was Undefeated Army vet Tim Kennedy scoring a KO over up and comer Elias
Rivera in a middleweight matchup. See u at the fights.

Welcome in 2008 with..[UFC 79]Hughes,GSP,The Iceman,Wanderlei/ [M-1 Global] The Return of Fedor, Hong-Man Choi,[The IFL]Horedeki, Shultz, Heleno, Hieron +

 DECEMBER 27th 2007

MMA fans... want action?  Fasten your seatbelts as we welcome in The New Year  with the most amazing matchups in the history of the sport.  Dec 29th Ultimate Fighting Championships [Live on Pay Per View]....Matt Hughes vs.George St.Pierre [Interim UFC World Welterweight Championship] and on the same card, finally....."The Iceman" Chuck liddel takes on "The Axe Murderer" Wanderlei Silva in one of the most anticipated matchups in MMA history.  Will Hughes, the 7 time UFC Champion come up with  a gameplan  to win back the title and become the 8 time World Champ or will former World Champ GSP walk over Matt as in their last fight? Will Wanderlei  stop Chuck as he did Rampage a few years back?? Word is that Hughes is training harder than ever for his fight with GSP, so do not count Matt out. BODOG has 2-1 odds in favor of St. Pierre and is slightly favoring Chuck. GSP looked unbelievable stopping the very skilled Josh Koschek and  appears to be unstoppable. Both Matt Hughes and George St Pierre are warriors who are known to always rise to the occasion. Can't wait....Now The Iceman vs Silva should be something..... Will Chuck's  looping punches work aginst Wanderlei, who Joe Rogan calls the most intimidating fighter in MMA?  Wanderlei could be too much for Chuck if The Iceman doesn't adjust his style a bit for this fight.

This is anybody's fight. If Chuck lands the big one, it's all over.  Check out Randy Gordon and Chris Thomas of Fight Club [SIRIUS radio channel 123] this Sat nite as they commentate on UFC 79 from Madison Square Garden. ...So is that it for MMA excitement   .  Monte Cox, CEO of M-1 Global made the announcement that Fedor Emelianenko will fight 7ft 2inch Korean Giant Hong-man Choi for the newly formed M-1 Global Mixed Martial Arts Org.on New Years Eve in Japan [broacast live on HDNet Dec 31st at 6AM EST]. Fedor, considered to be best pound for pound fighter in the world, will be taking on a very tough opponent.  Choi has dangerous knees and at 360lbs, standing 7ft 2inches, he's no joke. In kick boxing and has a strong wrestling backround.

He has been  stopped  once by Mighty Mo. According to Jerome LeBanner, he's the strongest guy in K-1. Will be up at 6AM to catch this one....Also on the card some of the best lightweits in the world....Hyato sakurai vs Hasegawa....

Last, but not least....The International fight League, Dec 29th from Mohegan Sun Arena in Ct. The undefeated Chris Horodeki AKA "The Polish Hammer" vs Ryan shultz for the 155lb title. Horodeki fights for the Silverbacks and Shultz for Matt lindland's Wolfpack.looks to be a good fight.

DelsonHeleno Of Renzo Gracie's Pitbulls will go against Jay hieron. Jay will most likely try to keep the fight standing. Delson will most likely take it to the ground and do what he does best....go for the submission.

In closing...Win with honor and lose with diginity and Happy New Year.

SHOXC FINAL QUOTES

Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007,

Chumash Casino Resort. Santa Ynez, Calif.

Two undefeated 205-pound fighters with nearly identical records will clash when Aaron Rosa (10-0) faces Jared Hamman (9-0) in one of the co-featured bouts on ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series on SHOWTIME Friday, Oct. 26, at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast).

In another excellent matchup in the other co-feature, Javier “Showtime” Vazquez (11-2) will meet JC “Crayola’’ Pennington (14-3-1) in a 150-pound fight.

Other fights on a telecast presented by Los Angeles-based ProElite, Inc.’s Live Fight Division, EliteXC:  Malaipet (2-1) collides with Kaleo ‘’Lights Out’’ Kwan (8-6) at 155 pounds; Taurus “Mushin” Corbbrey (11-2, 1 NC) battles Bobby “Wolverine” McMaster (8-1) at 155 pounds; and in a bout that further illustrates EliteXC’s commitment to women’s MMA, Shayna Baszler (9-4) takes on Jennifer “Rosebud’’ Tate (4-0) at 135 pounds.

The televised fights at Chumash Casino Resort at Santa Ynez, Calif. are scheduled for three, 5-minute rounds with the exception of Baszler-Tate, which is slated for three, 3-minute rounds.

Three additional fights will be streamed live on the Internet at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT on  the premier MMA social networking and entertainment site, ProElite.com: In scheduled three, 3-minute round contests: Chris Cariaso (5-0) faces Rick McCorkell (6-3) at 135 pounds;  Jaime Fletcher (8-2) meets Giva Santana (9-0) at 185 pounds; and Shane Del Rosario (2-0) collides with Amedeo Viola (debut) at 265 pounds. A scheduled fight between Fabricio “Morango” Camoes and Ryan Bixler fell out late Friday night after Bixler withdrew.

AARON ROSA

“I am getting paid for what I love to do. I grew up in MMA and just love everything about it: the training, the fighting, and the people. I just have a passion for it like everyone else.

“Coming right back on SHOWTIME is really exciting. I want to do well so they will ask me back, but I know I need to keep winning to get where I want to go. So I keep working even harder. I always give my best and love to fight. I love to match my will against my opponent’s.

“I am known as a striker and some think I am anti-Jiu-Jitsu but I am not really anti-Jiu-Jitsu. If there is a submission to be had I will go for it. I am always looking for my opponent to make a mistake and pounce on them.

“I guess I have a lot of common with Hamman. We are both undefeated, both played football, we’re about the same height and we are Christians.

“This is going to be a tremendous fight.’’

JARED HAMMAN

“I’ve never had a fight go to a decision. Like I tell the college football players I coach, you go for it right away so you don’t put anyone else in the position to decide it for you. I take it round by round, minute by minute, just like I tell my players to take it play-by-play and give it everything you’ve got.

“I fight stand-up but have been working hard on my ground game. I think I have improved it a lot. I don’t feel I am one-dimensional and I can adjust to whatever my opponent is doing.

“I don’t know much about Rosa, so I don’t know if this is going to be my toughest fight. But it is going to be a great fight and I am going to give my all.

“Being unbeaten is fine, but who you beat is more important. I know a win over Rosa will mean a lot to me.’’

JAVIER VAZQUEZ

“It’s about time that a guy whose nickname is ‘Showtime’ is finally getting to fight on his network. Seriously, though, all my fights are thrilling. They are never boring. Fans always get a show. Friday will not be an exception.

“I wasn’t satisfied with my last fight. I took a lot more punishment than I should have, or am accustomed to. I didn’t do what I always do. But I am ready for a top performance now.

“Pennington is a good all-around fighter but I feel I am at a higher level than him. I don’t say it, but people are always saying that I am an elite fighter.

“I know Pennington is coming to win, but this is my chance to prove I belong to be mentioned with some of others in my weight class. I am looking forward to getting it on Friday night.’’

JC PENNINGTON

“I was beyond thrilled when I was offered this fight and nearly stressed for two weeks waiting for it to become official. This is a great opportunity for me to be able to fight on SHOWTME.

“I am definitely excited. I promise this will not be a disappointing fight. Win or lose, I am going to have fun. I am very confident. I have been working with a lot of good people on my stand-up and I think it is getting pretty good. I know I am feeling more and more comfortable.

“I know my opponent is very good and that I am the underdog.  But I am going to test him and push the pace.

“He hasn’t been all that active and I noticed his cardio wasn’t all that good in his last fight. My last three fights have gone the distance and my cardio has been great.

“I want to try and keep this run going as long as I can and be the best I can be. This is the kind of fighter I want to fight.’’

KALAO KWAN

“Hawaii has a lot of great fighters and the fans know we come to fight.

“Malaipet comes in very highly regarded, but it is exciting for me to get a chance to showcase my skills and see where I am at talent-wise with others at my weight.

“Malaipet prefers to fight but he has some weaknesses, which I am going to try and expose. I don’t think he does all that well on the ground.

“This is really an important fight for me. Win this fight and I may be able to attract some offers that will allow me to quit my job as a construction worker. I work construction now to support my wife and six children.

“I have been training very hard and I know what I have to do Friday.’’

MUSHIN CORBBREY

“This is going to be a fun, tough fight. I expect McMaster to stay in and stand. He is a good fighter, but I feel I have fought better fighters.

“My goal every fight is to finish my opponent, but winning is the most important thing.

“I think fans got a little restless in my last fight against Lee Gibson, but Lee is a really tough fighter who just was not going to go away no matter what I did. I was looking for a knockout, but he was totally game and took a lot of shots, especially to his legs.

“No respect to McMaster, but I feel I am ready to step up and fight the very best guys. I think I should be fighting main events soon. I would fight any of the so-called top guys in a heartbeat.

“I want to fight as often as possible. Being a professional boxer, I could be boxing in the next few weeks if everything goes OK Friday. My goal is to win world championship belts in MMA and boxing.’’

SHAYNA BASZLER

“Jennifer is tough and aggressive and has big hands. She likes to press the pace and dictate the pace. She has been able to get away with that so far, but I don’t think anyone she has fought will fight back like I will.

“I have fought the best women in MMA. I am confident I can beat any of them on my best day.

“I am looking forward to Friday and fighting on SHOWTIME. Along with EliteXC, they have really helped fighters like me make a name for myself. I hope to continue to take advantage of these types of fabulous opportunities.’’

SHANE DEL ROSARIO

“I really am looking forward to fighting on ProElite.com. This will give a whole lot of people a chance to see what I can do.

“I don’t know what to expect, except that this will be a good fight and a good win might mean a fight next time on ShoXC.’’

 AMADEO VIOLA

“When it is all said and done, it is not the material stuff  that adds to your legacy but what you do in the cage.

“I am anxious, but not nervous, for my MMA debut. I want to make a good impression on the fans and with EliteXC and SHOWTIME. I am confident I can do that.’’
